It’s funny how rarely you see Luke in his Hoth fatigues from
the Empire Strikes Back despite that he wore them throughout the movie’s
opening scene. I suppose it’d be natural given he did change into a pilot
uniform after being taken to the bacta chamber, and from there into his
Dagobah/Bespin costume for the rest of the film.
Kenner did a great job on this figure’s sculpt especially.
He has a slightly unusual pose with one leg pivoted in another direction, which
makes him stand out among his more static contemporaries. The figure also has
slightly better proportions than most of the other Hoth figures who seem a
little chubby to me, most notably the Hoth Rebel Soldier. Luke’s sculpted
binoculars are another fine detail that helps set this figure apart.
If I had a problem with this one, it’d no doubt be his gun.
It’s unfortunately one of the thicker-handled weapons from the line, which is
nerve-racking to use on a thirty year old toy. Obviously an easy fix would be
just to give him someone else's blaster, but it’s still a shame he couldn’t
have had one more like the gun included with the later Endor Rebel.
